So as traditional new mom rituals seem to go, I got all my hair chopped off! It was getting way too long, verging on weird. Can you believe I cut off 10 inches? I was excited because that is the minimum amount you must have to donate to Locks of Love, so now they're going to make a wig out of my hair. I would love to see what that would look like.

Would you like to see a dumb movie?

Well, The Women would be perfect. Whenever Eric works a graveyard shift, I go to the local redbox and try and find a movie we wouldn't want to see together. It almost always ends up being some dumb chick flick. I had heard that was there was not one single male character cast in the whole movie. Not even an extra. I didn't believe it, so I wanted to rent it and make sure. It was the worst movie I have seen since! Sure there was not one male in the whole movie, but still not worth torturing yourself for two hours just to make sure. This movie was so dumb, if I wasn't chained to the couch nursing Lily I would've definitely turned it off.

The rest of the story

It has been quite the roller coaster these past couple of days, but of course everything has worked out so wonderfully that I don't really care how we got to this point, just that we're finally there. I was scheduled to be induced on Friday, until the Tuesday prior when Eric calls me at work and says he's throwing up from so much pain and can barely stand to walk. He has 5 kidney stones and one of them, the one that's 7 mm, decides to pass this week. The doctor told him it was too large to ever pass on its own so he will have to get it blasted. Unfortunately for him, the only day that had the blasting machine was also on Friday. So I asked my doctor if we could put the induction off until Saturday, but since it's the week before Christmas they were full, but she said that four spots opened up on Thursday. So I said sign me up. One less day to wait!
Then on Wednesday afternoon, we got a call from my mom. She was supposed to arrive from Virginia that evening, but their layover was re-routed to Los Angeles due Vegas' first snow storm in 30 years . So she wouldn't be in until the next day.
Thursday
We went in at 7:30 in the morning and I was hooked up to pitocin, four hours later the contractions started getting uncomfortable so I got my epidural. Eric and I watched a couple movies and just waited around. I went in dilated at a 3 and by 4 pm I was only at a five. Since I hadn't eaten since dinner the night before and could only lay in bed for the past 7 hours, I was getting pretty restless. Lily did too because every time I had a contraction her heart rate would drop. Plus she was turned facing up. It got bad enough that they had decided to do a C-section. They had the OR ready, Eric was suited up to go in, and just as they were injecting me with a Lidocaine mixture they noticed her heart was looking good and canceled the C-section. They checked my dilation and I was at a 7. Two hours later I was finally at a 10 and by this time my family had finally arrived from the airport. I pushed for just an hour and then she was hereat a quarter to midnight.
By the time we got to the post partum room it was about 3 am and Eric had his surgery in four hours. I was out like a light, so I didn't even see Eric off to his surgery. We were thinking he would be in and out and could just walk back to my room when he was done. So when 12:00 rolls around and he's still not back I start to worry. I send my dad over to his doctors office and he finds him with his dad loopy from the anesthesia. We didn't realize he would be put under for this, so Eric's dad takes him to our house to recover and so I didn't see Eric after we had Lily until the next day when he brings me dinner. Aside from the kidney stone drama, waiting around for 17 hours, and starving, it really wasn't too bad. The baby was perfectly healthy and I survived just fine. What more could you ask for?
8:00 am, I'm thinking, "Whoohoo only a few more hours..."
9:00 pm, I'm thinking, " ..only a few hours...ha!"
