Fat Feet

Oh what a view. Amazing that in just a few days I'll get to see my legs and maybe even fit into my shoes again!

The Nursery

Here are some pictures of the nursery. I still haven't figured out how to take good indoor shots, but whatever, you get the jest.

Is it the camera or the kids?

Eric and I finally decided on the Canon 40D. It is awesome. We have yet to learn all it's capabilities, or really even just how to use it, But took it on our Christmas weekend of fun with the rest of Eric's family anyways. These cuties are my two little nephews, Max and Zeke. I think the camera works great, but how could these pictures not look good with such adorable subjects?

p.s. My doctor scheduled me to get induced on the 19th of December. So she's coming in pretty much a week at the latest! ah!

Talking with Myself

Now that I have another human attached to me going everywhere I go, I find that I chat with her. A lot. Which is fine, I hear it's good to talk to the baby. But I think I've now adapted this habit of saying everything outloud, a lot of it isn't baby related at all. Eric will come upstairs and say, "uh, Ash, who ya talking too?" Of course I always say, "Oh the baby of course!". But doubt she cares about my run through of what I need to do while making dinner.

Good ol' Americans

So I was listening to the news last night and heard that the polling places are handing out krispy kreme donuts to all voters today. Only in America do they need to bribe their citizens with donuts to vote for the leader of their country. (oh and I apologize for the crappy photoshop job, I'm at work so I had to make this quick)

On a side note, in my online search for someone eating a donut, I found this picture:



I thought it was so funny, I'm sure everyone working around me was wondering what I was laughing at in my little corner cubicle all by myself. But come on, he looks just like him! haha! I'm laughing about it all over again.

Honest to blog

This was the easiest halloween costume I could come up with. It cost me $3 at Savers for the striped shirt. Eric was meant to be Bleeker, but had to miss yet another Halloween at work. LAME!

So I want to start a hobby...

Now that we have a baby on the way I now have some motivation to take part in this whole digital SLR revolution. I am thinking of the Canon Rebel, but have also heard good things about the Nikon D80. What do you guys think? What camera's do you use?

I was just taking a much needed browsing break from the 'Multi-State Claims Program Booklet' I've been working on and found this really fun website called Faces in Places. People submit pictures of things they've seen that look like faces. Well, I got a kick out of it.

Sorry Locks of Love

So Eric has been saying [threatening] to grow his hair out until Christmas. Normally I wouldn't mind, I usually never say anything about his appearance. Like when he showed up to a work party that's $80 /head business casual in jeans and a t-shirt...but he has really nice hair. When I have okay curly hair and I come to find that after a few months of his resistance to the razor that he has gorgeous curly hair, it gets a little annoying. So after a few little snide stabs throughout the past couple months he finally surprises me with this:



Doesn't he look cute? I took this picture of him at the Combined Youth BBQ last night and it took me a minute to find him because he looks so dang young now! He blended in with all the young men. He can't go wrong, first he has better hair than me and now that he cuts it all off he looks younger than me? Maybe I'll just have to accept the fact that I married up.

and speaking of chairs...

Isn't this chair gorgeous? Through my endless searching, I finally found a rocking chair I didn't despise. We just got it yesterday and I just have to say, I'm in love.

It's Finally Here!

Back in February Eric and I though it would be nice to buy a little chair for our living room. After seven months and many false alarms, it has finally arrived. Seven months is a long time to wait for a chair you say? I tend to agree. Let's review all that has been accomplished since February:




1. Utah has gone through all four seasons...



2. We grew a whole lawn in our backyard...



3. We've basically refinished our whole basement...



4. We've almost gone through a whole presidential election...



5. UDOT switched out every major bridge on I-80...



6. All athletes from across the whole world competed in every major summertime event...



7. My neighborhood got all newly paved streets...



8. We've gone from hurricane Arthur all the way to Josephine...



9. Oh and Eric and I pretty much created a whole new human being, minus a couple months.

So I ask, why would it take so long for a little chair?

Registry for Baby S

My Baby Registry

So Eric has been hounding me to quit buying things for the baby. He seems to think we'll receive everything we need at my shower. So to cure this shopping bug I have, I created a registry. That way I can still "shop" without ever buying anything. It feels almost as good. I found this really cool site that compiles a bunch of registries into one site. Like Amazon, who would think to register there? Let me just say I got way carried away on the children's books. That part was really fun. It also had places like Babies R'Us and Target. You can buy from all the different stores right from the one site. So it is one stop shopping. It even had some html to copy and paste on your own website? Tacky? I don't know. Ugly? yes. But I just wanted to see if it would work.

A Nurse Who Hates Needles

We had to find out Eric's blood type for pregnancy reasons, so he had to get some blood drawn the other day. Luckily, this will be his only physical contribution to the pregnancy. I don't know if he could take anymore. I didn't have the heart to tell him I've already had to get my blood drawn three times.

All Bets Are Off!

Well, we can finally start buying some clothes (and of course we already have). We found out our little baby is going to be a girl! This is my favorite picture because you can really see her cute little hand. We got some great shots of her face but since the ultrasound machine mostly shows just bone, she looked pretty freaky and we don't want to give the www the wrong idea. She's a mix of me and Eric, so of course she'll be freakin' cute. She just needs a few more months in the oven.

Those Hip Apostles At It Again...

So we were having this lesson in Relief Society about all the ways we can share the gospel in this time and our teacher reads part of this article M. Russell Ballard wrote in this month's Ensign called "Sharing the Gospel Using the Internet". In one part he talks about using blogs to share your testimony and even talks about YouTube type sites to share your testimony. I thought it was funny cause Ballard is probably in his 70's or 80's and is totally up-to-date on what is going on in the world. What is funny is our teacher had to ask if someone in the Relief Society would explain to her what a "blog" is because she didn't even know what it was. Now the next appropriate thing for me to do would be to take this to heart and share my testimony, but I don't know if I'm ready to post it on the world wide web yet...someday, maybe....

Where Boys Become Men?

Well at 53 years old, I would say my dad has been a man for quite some time, but isn't that what they say when you're off to war? This past weekend my dad headed off to Afghanistan for the next ten months. We're all pretty bummed, except for him. He's been in the army since college and has never had to go to war. So as he told me, they're finally putting him after sitting on the bench the whole game. So I guess I'm glad he has this opportunity. The first thing I asked him when he told me was going to Afghanistan was if we were allowed to come visit, but for some reason tourists are not allowed. I'll get to call him and email him, and he'll get to check my blog...so we'll get to keep in touch just as well as if he was in Virginia. Even still, I miss him a lot!!

The End of the Stettler East Coast Tour

We just got done with the last of the East coast tour for the month. This time we were in Virginia visiting my family. We went for a couple of reasons one to visit my dad before he took off to Afghanistan for the next year and two is because I wanted to tell them I was pregnant. Oh did I mention this yet?? Yeah, well I am and we're really excited. I'm due on Christmas and I'm almost 14 weeks. Okay, enough about that, back to Virginia. We were only there for a week, but we packed in a lot of good times. The first day we went to the beach. Here are Eric and my brother Nathan playing on the beach. Look at those manly men!

Sarah got her very first job at a place called Tropical Smoothie. We all went and visited her on her first day.

My parents took us up to Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson. It actually was really interesting. Thomas Jefferson was such a clever guy. I loved seeing all the gadgets he put throughout the house and the unique architecture. We weren't allowed to take pictures inside, but here we are out front. Obviously, none of new where the camera taking the picture was except for Eric, but at least you can see the house.

Other than that, we pretty much just played Wii the whole time or ate a lot of good food!

The Best Baptism Ever

This past weekend my niece had her baptism. It was a stake baptism so there were tons of people there. My nephew Max is three and he was sitting in front of us and I was sitting next to this overweight guy with glasses and a button up shirt on. Max being pop culturally savvy as he is recognized this man as "Family Guy" and declared it to the whole congregation, about 8 times. He even asked my father-in-law to take a picture of him. Luckily, Max still slightly speaks in his broken three year-old english, so we're really rooting this guy isn't traumatized for life. 

Boston...2 weeks later

So we went to Boston forever ago and since it is one of the few interesting things we've done in our lives lately I need to post it. I just kept putting it off and now I have all these post ideas building up, but I feel compelled to do this all chronologically, so I've just been thinking, "gotta post Boston....gotta post Boston". So here it is ladies and gentlemen (I don't think any guys ever read this, but who knows whose lurking around on the world wide web??).

I think I'll do this nyc style and just post quick highlights. Cause honestly, who care what I write? You guys are just here for the pictures!

I sat in the same pew as Teddy Roosevelt at the Old North Church.

Did you know they still dress like that in Boston? Yeah, I was surprised myself.

Eric had to have lobster while we were over there. Hope he enjoyed it, it cost us $63! Believe me, we will never be fooled by "Market Price" on a menu again.

While I went to my conference all day long, Eric went to Lexington and then walked to Concord, later on he figured he walked about 16 miles that day. We have a picture of his bloody blistered feet that may better suit this post, but I thought you would enjoy a picture of Louisa May Alcott's house in Concord instead (recognize it from the movie Little Woman?).

We went and walked around Harvard and I realized, 'Hey, I'm probably the dumbest person walking on this sidewalk right now...'

Then I spent the last half of our day in Boston following Eric around the wharf telling him he can't catch a jellyfish with just a stick. Not one of the highlights.
